BrokerCheck reviews online brokers and prop firms against a fixed set of published criteria, so that two reviews can be read on the same basis. This page is the starting point: it leads to every review hub and to the pages that explain how a rating is made.
Broker reviews
A broker review covers regulation, platforms, fees, trading conditions, account features and customer support. The findings come together in one rating built from eight areas, and the same areas are used for every broker. You can browse every review in the broker review hub, or place brokers next to each other in the comparison hub.
Prop firm reviews
A prop firm review looks at how completely and clearly a firm publishes its terms: trading rules, fees and refunds, reward and payout terms, who stands behind the contract, the platforms on offer and the support and complaint route. The prop firm review hub lists the firms reviewed so far, and Compare prop firms sets their terms out in one table.
How the ratings are made
Brokers and prop firms are not judged by the same yardstick, so each has its own methodology page:
- How we rate and review brokers explains the eight areas behind a broker rating and how we test a broker.
- How we assess prop firms explains the six weighted areas behind a prop firm score and what the score does not cover.
- The methodology overview puts both side by side.
Reading a review
Start with the rating, then read the section that matters most to you, whether that is costs, regulation, the trading platform or the payout terms. Each review is written for a reader who wants to compare options, and a review is a starting point for your own checks, not a recommendation to open an account. Partner links may earn BrokerCheck a commission, and the methodology pages describe how this is kept apart from the criteria.
The people behind the reviews
Every review names its author and its fact-checker. You can meet them on the team page, and see the firms that have earned a place in our awards.
